Trapped in a post-colonial estate in Trinidad, a tormented mother is pursued by a vengeful demoness with insidious ties to her secret family history.
A tormented mother, Crystal searches for her family history in a slave plantation turned museum in Trinidad. When things go awry, she tries everything to escape the ghostly estate and return to her estranged son. But unnerving occurrences cause her to question her unsettled mind and also the other individuals in the house. Memories of a horrific accident haunt her as a demoness, La Diablesse, feeds off of her trauma. But La Diablesse wants much more than just that.

Through the exploration of a mother's love for her child, La Diablesse film gives backstory and depth to a revered Caribbean folklore character from our French-creole history, a coming-together of French colonialism and West-African enslavement on the island in the sixteenth and seventeenth century.

Jolene Mendes
Jolene Mendes is a producer from Trinidad and Tobago, currently based in Los Angeles. She's produced a number of films including She Paradise (AFI, Tribeca Film Festival, distributed by Samuel Goldwyn Films); Anna Karenina (Accolade Global Film Competition, Winner at SoHo International Film Festiva, European International Film Festival); Extra Innings (Winner of Best Feature at both Manhattan Film Festival and Jersey Shore Film Festival, now available on VOD). Additionally, she's also produced videos for Marvel, Atlantic Records, Warner Music Group as well as various international commercial clients, both in the U.S and Caribbean. Jolene is currently producing the coming-of-age feature, Sour Milk (Sierra McCormick, Jason Butler Harner, Ryan Simpkins, Emily Robinson) and La Diablesse, along with a number of other films in development.
Jolene believes that film is one of the most effective ways to make a difference and continues to produce content that has the potential to inspire.
